I've had a similar problem with AVG Free for the past several months - they put in a pre-scan on URLs from my web-browser. I rather violently objected to this - following every link on a Google search results page before I even read it? are you kidding? - and turned it off. And it's been complaining about it ever since.

I installed it new on a PC since the first of the year - that install doesn't have the web pre-search. I should uninstall it and reinstall it.
